5 Featured Digital Learning Tools

1. Wikipedia

https://www.wikipedia.org

I know, I know!  You are thinking, "WHAT?"  But I am serious!  Wikipedia can be a useful starting place for online research.  However, we teachers need to model ways to think about the information that any search engine provides.  I had some really good results in my classes when I encouraged them to start with Wikipedia and analyzing the results.

2. Flipgrid

My favorite part of Flipgrid is the GridPals tab.  You have the opportunity to connect with teachers and students all over the world.  You can connect with videos and music!  Really, you are only limited by your imagination (I know that is cliche, but true in this case).  VERY exciting tool!!

3. Padlet

This site is an online bulletin board.  We used also used it to connect with another class in Georgia.  Students loved the technology and the chance to respond to other students.  Here is a link to simple Padlet: https://padlet.com/cwingard2/u66i3w25z3tt

You can use this site with a Google login.

4. TED Talks

 https://www.ted.com/talks

There are so so many excellent TED talks out there on Global Education.  You can use a TED talk to create or modify a lesson, teach a skill, or introduce a topic.  I know that most educators have heard a TED talk by now but are you utilizing them in your classes?  If not, you are not taking advantage of a great resource.  One of my favorite TED talks of the TGC program was this one and I used it with my students.  The discussion was worthwhile.  Try TED talks!

5. Pinterest

Don't know where to start?  How to start?  Get to pinning!  Many global educators have boards on Pinterest and all you have to go is start collecting.  This is a simple way to get involved in the Global Education movement by collecting ideas.  Ideas that can be incorporated into your classes.
